Oh. This update. It may or may not have me tearing up a little bit. Corey, my poor boy. And Jerry is acting in a way that’s almost...unselfish? Seeing him take responsibility like this and willingly take some of the blame is wild. And the desperation in the second to last panel, damn. He really does care more than he lets on, doesn’t he?
The way that last panel is framed works really damn well by the way. It gives that line a lot of gravity and goddamn is it emotional
Yeah he's a changed man, eh? Going from being angry for months over an insult match to forgiving Corey for leaving him to face Rob alone. he's really come into his own since he died :)
Thank you! Felt like pulling out of the closeups for that line let the words speak for themselves
This whole sequence I think is hands down my fave so far. The pay off based on the clues you've placed in the story is what really makes it striking...both from a mystery solving perspective to an emotional payoff for the boys.
Mm. Or a bunch of sequences since I am always close to saying "THIS ONE" but then another one pops up >_<
Every freaking time I think it is time for them to catch their breath and finally talk about stuff. No. In the grim future of their lives there is only tragedy :(
Poor Corey :(
His actions do not surprise me because he does look like the type who turns himself in. Common or uncommon, some people do that. Plus he does not even need to lie. It was an accident though methods will have to really prove that.
More worried about our boy Dylan, haha. How much can be traced back to his sorry butt.
Also, I was thinking exactly the same about those panels. I actually compared Dyl's face in both of them and this is the first time I've noticed how you draw ears—and realised that I love how you balance realism with artistic license. Just want to call that out because ears are super weird and annoying to draw.
Haha thank you :') I worked out a system for ears long ago and they haven't changed much since. I think I need to start drawing different ears on different characters more hmm
I'd note that so many artists do all sorts of things to avoid drawing detailed ears under any circumstances whatsoever because ears are basically the worst—having a system is A+.
I also note that you literally redrew like, that entire first panel almost exactly when so many artists would just have copy/pasted and changed Dylan's eyes and Jerry's arm… Almost no one would notice and I wouldn't even think the tiniest bit less of you if you wanted to save a bit of time, but once again I'm impressed by your fluency and work ethic. (moth you work so hard please take breaks when you need to we won't be mad i promise)
i take these secret sneaky breaks because I power through making loads of excess pages then work on other things for a couple of weeks and nobody can tell ;)
I copy pasted the background on that one, sometimes I do that but only copy paste the people if they're meant to be in the same position for emphasis ;) ALso I can't not draw ears, I find it hard to cover them with hair >_>

Moth
:)
panels 1 and 6 are my favourites because of dylan's goofy face.

Mel Cormac
Goofy maybe, but given the situation I'm not surprised he's just standing there gormlessly.
Like... "how do I relay my dead brother's words without sounding mad? I don't have the social experience for this."
Moth
summing up the will to just go full crazy-person
OhHeyItsMe
damn how I wish they all could just hug and make peace with each other, if it only was this simple ;-;
Moth
jerry already used his hug allowance (1 hug only) but i'll see what i can do

Hey now, that’s my heart you’re curbstomping

Amarok
if hes planning on dialing 911, he can do that without unlocking the phone.
but then again hes probably too emotionally compromised to think of that.
Moth
Maybe he subconsciously wants it to take longer
Or maybe I just wanted to draw his lock screen ;)

Aw thank you! I think that's the main mysteries solved now, hopefully the how can all talk it through to a happy ending :-)

I wonder how he could prove it was an accident. All he's got is the little wound on his hand and Rob's knife.
At least Dylan got interrupted before he managed to put this blood on Robin! It would definitely have been too fresh

Oh my gaaaaawd

anyway thanks again :p
Bolderousness
Dylan's expression is hilarious because he's just like, "Okay. Have fun, mate."
Moth
He has no practice for this sort of situation
Wooster
I demand derp communication next page, Moth. I DEMAND IT.
… please?
Moth
You want to break this touching moment with derp?
Well we'll see ;)
Jordan Gray
This—it's so close, Wooster, I can practically hear the derp warming up in the wings…
deerwithgoggles
can i just say the characterization through this entire comic has been absolutely grade a and this page is just another excellent example of that.
Jordan Gray
Right? Corey's anguish is so tangible these past few pages, he's basically killed someone and I just feel terrible for him…
Moth
ahh thanks! I just enjoy writing this bunch so much :D
Thracecius
I heartily concur with deerwithgoggles, masterfully done, Moth. :)
Here's my two cents on dialogue speculation for the next scene, just for fun:
Corey: He does? How could you know that?
Dylan: Look, we're twins, okay. I don't know how to explain it!
