I always imagined Suit Jerry with a raspier voice...

Yes, spelling it out would be helpful....

24th Nov 2018, 8:11 PM edit | delete | reply

aha any final guesses on what Suit Jerry might be?

I always think of him as having quite a soft, smooth voice, a lot more subdued than standard jerry!

25th Nov 2018, 3:17 PM edit | delete | reply

I have too many ideas....and some really wild guesses

Maybe someone who died at Deep Well...

25th Nov 2018, 6:01 PM edit | delete | reply

"Deep Well"
Yup. That is my guess as well. Somehow connected to their Mom or whose Mom died there in the flashback.
One thing I am not sure about is why Jerry. Unless it is a completely unrelated entity that takes a relevant form depending on whoever it is attached to?

25th Nov 2018, 8:30 PM edit | delete | reply

My current guess is that he's the ghost of their 'uncle' Eric.

We know the he was present as far back as the hospital incident, and there aren't many named characters who've been alluded to who are associated with that event who aren't accounted for.

Edit: This is not cannon to 'this' version of the comic, but if memory serves, the old version of Dapper Jerry was an astral projection of someone in intensive care. Likely a coma patient. That person, I suspected, was Robin's brother.

25th Nov 2018, 9:47 PM edit | delete | reply

I've been suspecting Eric for a while now too! He was my wild guess but I really had nothing to back it up besides a gut feeling. The one thing that makes me discount this is I think who Suit Jerry really is has black hair. And Eric's is brown. (I went to read what people thought on webtoons and noticed he had blackish hair in the funeral scene)

Another wild guess is that he might be Rob's dad too. I remember seeing MadJak suggest it in comment but can't remember which page. And I remember seeing a picture Moth drew with the boys on a bench and a fourth man whose face was covered in smoke.

25th Nov 2018, 11:17 PM edit | delete | reply

Are you talking about this page, Omar? Personally, it looks like dramatic lighting/shading to me, obscuring the hair color.

26th Nov 2018, 1:07 AM edit | delete | reply

Yes that's the page, but on webtoons there's an extra panel.

PS: Not sure if it was clear but I think Eric could also be Rob's biological dad, and the other dad mentioned is was his stepfather, maybe even if neither of them knew that.

26th Nov 2018, 8:35 AM edit | delete | reply

Guh I didn't even realize I'd done that. That's what happens when you've got so many different versions of pages kicking about. Honestly the webtoon version is kind of a horrible mess.

28th Nov 2018, 5:24 PM edit | delete | reply

The age argument Wooster mentioned sounds plausible if you assume Eric. However, I only have one issue with him. Why would Eric, their real Dad, torture Dylan this way? And how would he know so much about him? At least I suspect they barely interacted and Dylan is not THAT old for it to be a long time ago.

You can say we do not know yet because there really is not much on Eric in the first place and chances are he is going to be needed later and in that case... okay! :D

29th Nov 2018, 12:21 AM edit | delete | reply

See, that's the thing, we don't know squat about Eric other than that he committed adultery and has been out of the picture long enough that Annie doesn't know him personally. We know that Jerry prime doesn't like talking about him, but we can only speculate the nature of why.

Anyway, I have two guesses for why Eric might be tormenting Dylan. One, Dylan committed murder against the kid born of the woman he loved. That may be reason enough to torment Dylan, ignoring that Eric might've had a hand in Jerry's murder. But if Cail was the gunman, then perhaps everything checks out. The second guess is that, in some ghost stories, the deceased loose bits and pieces of themselves. Sometimes this manifests as an all encompassing obsession to forgetting/loosing parts of the character. Avoiding this state is often motivation to 'head towards the light'.

30th Nov 2018, 5:26 PM edit | delete | reply

Mm. I get ya. I just have one issue with that. As we said, we know next to nothing about their "uncle" so it if it is him then the story is going to need quite a lot of additional explaining soon enough to establish the, in my opinion, sudden fact that Eric has anything to do with this AND being (possibly) Suit Jerry.
He is not a relevant character right now at all and readers would need to immediately care for him? Hm.

I totally see Cail being more involved though. Yes. In that regard the conversation about Eric (with Corey) could have made him do... something.

On the other hand, I mentioned a few times their Mom's death caused something in the past in my opinion and I also have nothing more to say to that for now. So it is not like anything involving Eric is wrong either... Could be related, yup.

25th Nov 2018, 10:20 PM edit | delete | reply

to be fair i don't even name all the characters who explicitly show up *cough funeral girl cough*

haha omar that's my favourite banner, it's my patreon thing right now :p was my twitter header until recently too

25th Nov 2018, 11:44 PM edit | delete | reply

While that is technically a fair argument… the Dapper Jerry displayed in the flashback I linked to was seemingly already an adult. While I can't say we know a lot about most of the cast and their greater connections, Funeral Girl (and for that matter, Rob and Cail) would be too young to be Dapper Jerry, assuming time travel shenanigans aren't involved.

The remaining adult male characters we've been introduced to or mentioned are Eric, the Undertaker, Rob's Dad, Corey's Dad, and James. Rob's dad has about as much development as Rob's mom… which is nothing. Same goes for the Undertaker and Corey's Dad. Of the remaining two, James's face wasn't obscured in the hospital.

"any final guesses on what Suit Jerry might be?"
Does this mean revelations next time?? Oh boy...

Here is a funny but probably pointless thought. I think someone guessed it correctly in the past. I remember seeing an author comment that said: "Somebody guessed who Suit Jerry is" but that comment was later edited and heck if I remember what page that was :D
Could have been nothing though... Maybe I was drunk, LMAO.

To me Suit Jerry was always either Jerry's true side or the side of a jerk Dylan hated or Dylan's consciousness telling him what he really thinks and feels. His guilt? My problem here is that both do not sound mind blowing and that is what I am expecting :D
So... no. Nothing solid. Hm. If the thing is related to the hospital, which I suspect is, then both do not really work unless Jerry's change started there or what forced Dylan into this.

25th Nov 2018, 6:14 PM edit | delete | reply

gosh that was ages ago! someone just kind of casually threw out the right answer way before i was expecting it but I don't think they realised so I thought it wasn't worth mentioning ;D

not long now anyway!

25th Nov 2018, 9:52 PM edit | delete | reply

I remember reading that too, but instead of figuring it out I've only been more confused. :|

I wish to protect suit Jerry's condescending smile

EXCUSE ME

26th Nov 2018, 5:51 AM edit | delete | reply

i want suit jerry to slap me to sleep

26th Nov 2018, 9:44 AM edit | delete | reply

I'm sure that can be arranged

26th Nov 2018, 2:09 PM edit | delete | reply

I think Dylan just has a mental illness like DID or an anxiety disorder or schizo-type thing going on, and killed Jeremy due to insanity based delusions about how awful he is, and have thought that since the page with the bicycle boy cameo. The ideation with strangling Chris in recent pages just sealed it in for me Personally complete with recoiling from some destructive thoughts and saying why the hell would I want to do that.

26th Nov 2018, 7:59 PM edit | delete | reply

That’s not a bad guess. One of the clues is that his voice sounds strange. Basically, he doesn’t sound like Jerry. By extension, Dylan has a hard time discerning between his own thoughts and Dapper Jerry’s. At the very least I think we’re intended to -think- that is what he is.

28th Nov 2018, 5:28 PM edit | delete | reply

Possible. I am wondering though how would such mental state explain the other visions and even eavesdropping on Rob in the vision. That and Rob thinking there is really something weird going on in the town.
Nobody said that if one thing is not supernatural and just fabricated than ALL of them has to be unreal as well. Sure!

26th Nov 2018, 8:53 PM edit | delete | reply

My completely serious Suit Jerry theories:
1. He's a lost pagan deity that wants to watch some cat videos on YouTube and Dylan's the only one who can see it.
2. He's actually an alternate Jerry from another dimension.
3. He's the Mothman in disguise.
4. He's a shapeshifting, invisible Reptilian from space.

That's it, I'm out of ideas. Can't wait for the next uptade c:

26th Nov 2018, 9:20 PM edit | delete | reply

all very viable theories except number 3 because actually I'M the mothman in disguise
